A blown 383, and everywhere it can go wrong

Not renders. Not mock-ups. These are captures of the running app — a 383 small block at 8.8:1 on 14 psi of boost, built, inspected, and then deliberately destroyed on the wrong fuel.

AutoMotive3D component browser open beside the 3D engine, with the carburettor selected and highlighted in the model
Thirty-six parts, one at a timePick the carburettor and it lights up in the model — what it does, how it fails, and the real parts you can swap onto it.
Engine Systems panel with Heads and Valvetrain selected, showing its component list and isolate and explode controls
Or a whole system at onceHeads and valvetrain, induction, cooling, charging. Isolate a sub-assembly or blow just that one apart.
The engine pulled apart in 3D: heads, pistons, rods, crankshaft, camshaft, block and accessories separated in space
Pull the whole thing apartHeads, pistons, rods, crank, cam, block, alternator, water pump, belt. One slider takes it from assembled to laid out.
Build sheet showing 564 horsepower and 713 pound-feet with a F.U.S.E. build check warning about pump gas, above a parts list of real brands
The build sheet argues back564 hp, 713 lb-ft — and a red flag before you turn a key: 8.8:1 + 14 psi detonates on pump gas.
F.U.S.E. panel reporting the pistons and rings destroyed by detonation after running 87 octane in Denver August heat
Ignore it and watch it let go87 octane, Denver in August, load pinned. EGT 1736°, pistons and rings destroyed — and F.U.S.E. tells you exactly why.
Arena mode, where engine builds are compared head to head
Then run it against somethingArena puts your build up against another and settles it on the numbers.

Captured at 1920×1080 from the current build. The engine in these shots is a real configuration you can make yourself in the custom designer.

A Complete Engine Education Platform

The 3D engine bay is just the entry point. What you find inside goes far deeper than swapping a valve cover.

🏎

Parametric 3D Engine Sim

A real-time Three.js engine bay where the geometry responds to your choices. Change bore and stroke in the custom designer and watch the pistons and crank geometry update live.

🔩

Multi-Engine Roster

Build and battle with the SBC 350, SBC 383, SBC 400, and Inline-4. Each engine is a fully spec'd package — its own parts catalog, subsystem map, and fault set. More platforms coming soon.

Fault Simulation

Inject real faults — Blown Head Gasket, Low Compression, Oil Pan Leak, Exhaust Manifold Leak, Loose Head Bolts — and see the affected mesh highlight with animated effects and a plain-English explanation. Every fault includes its DTC code.

Custom Motor Designer

Define bore, stroke, compression ratio, and induction type. The platform synthesises your spec into a complete engine package on the fly — with its own dyno curve, fault profile, and arena stats. Save multiple designs.

Battle Arena

Put two engines head-to-head in the arena. Bench one motor against another — stock vs. built, factory vs. custom — and see the performance delta across power, torque, and fault tolerance.

📈

Dyno

Run your engine on the virtual dyno. See how your part choices and motor specs translate into a power and torque curve before you spend a dollar on parts.

Spread the entire engine apart layer by layer. Each subsystem flies to its own offset so you can inspect clearances, identify components, and understand how everything assembles.

Guided Tour

A step-through coachmark walkthrough runs automatically for new users — covering the engine bay, build panel, fault simulator, and arena. Replayable any time from the ? button.

Pick your platform

Each engine is a self-contained package with its own parts, faults, and arena stats. Lock in your motor and build from there.

Live

Small-Block Chevy 350

The classic 5.7L SBC. The baseline motor — proven, tunable, and deeply documented. Every aftermarket brand makes something for it.

Live

SBC 383 Stroker

The 350 block bored and stroked to 383 ci. More displacement, more torque — same bolt pattern, entirely different personality.

Live

SBC 400

The largest production small-block. Big bore, long stroke — the torque-first platform for heavy-duty and tow applications.

Live

Inline-4

The efficient four-cylinder platform. Different architecture, different fault profile, different aftermarket — same depth of simulation.

Coming Soon

More Platforms

Additional engines are in the roster — announced before they're fully drawn. Check back as the platform grows.

Custom Motor

Design your own engine from bore, stroke, CR, and induction. The 3D geometry updates live. Save as many custom motors as you want.

💥 Fault Simulation Engine

See What Happens When It Breaks — Not Just When It Works

Every other engine visualiser shows you how things run. AutoMotive3D shows exactly what happens when they fail — in 3D, with physics-accurate explanations and real DTC codes.

Inject a fault and the affected mesh highlights with animated effects. A plain-English explanation describes the failure at the component level — what broke, why, what the symptoms are, and how to fix it.

The same fault engine covers every motor in the roster, including your custom designs.

Visual effects include: pulse, flicker, fade, highlight, particle burst

7 Subsystems, fully mapped

Every part in the engine belongs to a subsystem. Tap any system to isolate and highlight it — the rest fades so you can focus.

Short Block

Block, pistons, crankshaft, oil pan, dipstick, oil filter, senders.

Heads & Valvetrain

Cylinder head, camshaft, valve covers, valvetrain — seals the bores and works the valves.

Induction

Intake manifold, carburettor, air cleaner, distributor, PCV breather, throttle linkage.

Exhaust

Exhaust manifold / tubular headers — collects spent gases from each bank's ports.

Driveline

Flywheel, bell housing, starter — where the engine meets the transmission.

Cooling & Belt Drive

Water pump, cooling fan, drive belt, thermostat — keeps everything at operating temperature.

Charging

Alternator — belt-driven generator that keeps the battery charged while running.
